D. Marie La Mar is a fine artist who finds inspiration from nature, especially the sea. She paints most of her landscapes and seascapes “en plein air” (on location). Her travels in Hawaii and Europe have been a great influence in Marie’s style.

“The interpretive quality of my work is impressionistic in approach, layered with bright colors and defined lines. ‘Classical magic-realism’ is perhaps the expression that best captures the feeling. The world appears solid, but what we really see are constantly moving reflections of light, refracted into colors, condensed into form. The bright astral world holds multifarious hues and dancing lights, a beauteous reflection inherent within all of nature. Painting this reflection is what I want to share with the viewer — a glimmering moment captured in time.”
